MTC District Companions Reunited in Brazil
Elder Yciano & Sister Johnson

The one thing that was super eventful this week was the visit of Elder Claudio Costa of the First Quorum of the Seventy. We didnt find out till late Monday that he was coming while on a mission tour. Hes the Church President over Brasil. Hes a crazy upbeat man but very very spiritual. He talked about concerns Ive had as a missionary, especially lately. He talked about how to involve members more and how to use the Spirit more when teaching and finding. Yes, it was all in Portuguese but I understood most of it. Good sign... and I got to see Elder Yciano my MTC Companion for the first time since he left! That was super exciting!

Then on Monday I had my first FHE with members. Enrique who is a great RM has a part member family but he hosted this mini Restoration based FHE (Family Home Evening) with a lot of people including nonmembers. Then we had a refreshment...no not ice cream....cold spaghetti! Haha Brasilians love spaghetti!

Bayeux area is still sort of struggling with teaching and baptizing. We have Herbery and Luanna. Well we cant baptize them because they arent married but they do want to! The problem is theyre super young, 19 and 16, and dont have any money to get legally married. But we have visited them and they have come to Church. They actually attended the baptism session last night for the other companionship here in Bayeux. Rosilene still believes everything to be true but for 3 times she hasnt attended Church.  Gustavo our 11 year old could of been baptized yesterday but there are Church rules that wont let him yet. But we did teach him this week about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. So yeah now were looking for new investigators...

Friday and Saturday Evenings were super fun. Friday we had a lot of appointments in the evening so we both couldnt help Bishop visit members. So Elder Cabrera took a youth with him and I went with Bishop. That was a lot of fun. We got a lot of member lessons and a referral out of that. (Missionaries LOVE referrals) Then Saturday we just walked around looking for teaching opportunities with youth from the street. That included members, nonmembers, Gustavo, and more. Missionaries are sort of loved by teenagers here!

Yesterday evening my companion and I, along with Elder Bond and Pierce were walking home from the Church after a long day and a baptism and we were walking with a purpose. (to return home) This guy randomly stops us and was like Dude you guys want to race, neh? Elder Bond said HECK YES. And so the two of them had a fast walking race. That was the funniest thing I think Ive ever seen and super random too. Sadly they finished before I pulled out the camera but yeah thats just a taste of Brasilian people.

So this week has had ups and downs. The Church is true and missionary work is great! Its an honor. At times this week was super duper irritating but its okay because its not about me. Never about me! EVER! I miss home like crazy but Im enjoying the work of the Lord.

Thanks again for all you do! The prayers and support are keeping me up when at times I just want to fall down.
